WHEN & WHY: MOOD TO FOOD
e.g., Eating from cookie jar, candy bag or drown our sorrows in ice-cream

Despite the focus on obesity or eating disorders of most of the research on food and behavior, a variety of psychological theories have been spread on emotional eating1. Recent studies, in 2014, showed that negative moods and positive moods may lead to preference for different types of foods2.

The connection between feelings and food is clearly evident in bad mood, when we are more likely to eat carbohydrate-and fat-rich foods (COMFORT & INDULGENT FOODS3), because we achieve immediately satisfaction and even psycho-physical benefits.

IMMEDIATE, PRESENT, NEED, ACHIEVING, SATISFACTION, BENEFITS, ABSTRACT, FUTURE are all words that help us understanding how mood may affect foods choice. Temporal dimension plays a key role in this relationship.
