Temporal distance may change people's responses to future events by changing the way people mentally represent those events (Trope and Liberman. Temporal construal. Psychol Rev. 2003;110:403-21).
Food related temporal construal refers to inclination to consider short- and/or long-term effect of foods. Sometimes we are present-focused, i.e. more concentrated on foods short-term effects, sometimes we are future-focused, i.e. more oriented to longer-term effects.
In your opinion when are you more likely to be present-focused? When future-focused?
