Mediterranean Diet




Mediterranean diet is a mix of food ingredients (e.g., vegetables and legumes, cereals, fish, olive oil, fruits, water, and red wine in small regular amounts).
The Mediterranean diet is associated with a better quality of life, including a healthier heart, a longer lifespan and good weight management High adherence to Mediterranean diet is also associated with reduced risk for stroke, depression, and cognitive impairment Foods will be described in detail in Food to Mood section.
The importance for physical and mental health of some kind of food should be stressed. Consistently with the event Expo Milano 2015, Italian schools are emphasizing, along with sustainability and no waste, these aspects of health-promoting foods of Mediterranean diet, involving children also in their production.
